Fact

The Supreme Court rejected Ceuta's ultra-urgent measures against the inactivity it attributes to the State

On 27 October 2026 the judiciary reported that the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the Supreme Court denied the ultra-urgent measures sought by the City of Ceuta to compel the Government, without hearing it, to deploy means to process expulsions, returns and international protection. The court did not rule on the merits.

  • The note says those measures cannot be granted without hearing the Administration, because the alleged inactivity would have lasted more than two and a half months without an earlier request for interim relief.
  • The court ordered the ordinary interim procedure and gave the State Attorney 10 days to respond.
  • The note does not set a figure of people awaiting expulsion and does not dismiss the case: it rejects the ultra-urgent route, not the appeal.
