Disinformation

RFI documented accounts and messages that circulated a call to cross toward Ceuta on 15 de agosto.

RFI reported that it had identified around ten Instagram accounts that it considered suspicious and that were disseminating messages related to a call for the 15 de agosto. Other evidence collected in the case file documented messages on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram about dates, departure points, and logistics, as well as the rumor that the Ceuta border would exceptionally open that day. The existence of the online call was documented, but the physical movement of people toward Ceuta on that date was not confirmed. RFI characterized the movement as artificially amplified and instrumentalized.
