The Ombudsman opened an ex officio inquiry on 13 August

On 13 August the Ombudsman wrote that he had opened an ex officio inquiry to learn the measures taken and still pending after the irregular crossing at El Tarajal of more than 70,000 people. He wrote to the migration authorities, the State Prosecutor, the City of Ceuta and the Government Delegation.

• The Ombudsman wrote that he opened an ex officio inquiry “after the irregular crossing of the El Tarajal border by more than 70,000 people.”
• The figure of more than 70,000 is the one the Ombudsman uses in that note. It is not replaced by other estimates.
