Fact

VerificaRTVE has judged a truck video 48 km from the border to be real

On 4 September VerificaRTVE wrote that the video was recorded around 18:30 in Morocco, on the N2 at the entrance to Tetouan, 48 km from the border with Ceuta. It wrote that there are no signs of manipulation or of the images being taken out of context. It wrote that it could not independently verify where the truck came from or where it was going. The same outlet says the CENIF includes a frame of that video in the section on uniformed Moroccan agents. In its report the CENIF assesses that uniformed agents give directions and organise access for heavy vehicles. That is the CENIF’s assessment. It is not a proven fact of this card.

  • VerificaRTVE wrote that the images “were recorded around 18:30 in Morocco, 48 kilometres from the border with Ceuta.”
  • It placed the scene on the N2 road, at the entrance to Tetouan.
  • It wrote that “there are no signs of manipulation or of these images being taken out of context.”
  • It wrote that “we have not been able to verify independently where the truck comes from or where it is going.”
  • It wrote that the CENIF “includes a frame of the same video” in the section “Photographic compilation of uniformed Moroccan agents.”
  • The CENIF report says that “various uniformed members of the security forces give directions to people crossing the border irregularly so they can overcome obstacles, and they organise access to the area for heavy vehicles carrying a large number of migrants.” That is the CENIF’s assessment.
