Fact

EFE has counted twelve arrests and four soldiers in the disturbances of 27 August

On 27 August EFE wrote that the Police and the Civil Guard arrested twelve migrants for stoning a vehicle with four soldiers in it. It also wrote that warning shots were fired to contain residents who wanted to attack migrants on Trampolín and Benítez beaches. EFE’s lead does not say the soldiers were wounded. COPE headlined that four soldiers were wounded. The two attributions are not merged. Another EFE piece the same day, on the Red Cross blockade, does not give these figures.

  • EFE wrote that they arrested “twelve migrants for stoning a vehicle with four soldiers” and that warning shots were fired “to contain the Ceutans who wanted to attack migrants on Trampolín and Benítez beaches.”
  • COPE headlined “four wounded soldiers.” EFE does not say that in the quoted lead. They are not averaged.
