Fact

CENIF said there was no official entry figure and estimated 75,000 to 85,000

The same report reproduced by La Región states that, as of 25 August 2026, the General Commissariat for Immigration and Borders had no official figure with an objective statistical basis. Its own estimate is 75,000 to 85,000 people. It attributes other figures to other speakers and does not present them as one number.

  • The report says: «As of 25/08/2026, the General Commissariat for Immigration and Borders has no official figure with an objective statistical basis».
  • Its own estimate of entries is «between 75,000 and 85,000 people», tied to border control at El Tarajal being practically inoperative for about 10 hours.
  • It attributes 72,000 to the Interior Minister on 11 August, and 70,000 returns to the same minister on 4 August. Those are not the 28 August sentence or the 9 September range.
  • It concludes that as of 26 August 2026 there are no reliable data on how many people have entered, left or remain.
